In February this year Dame Cressida Dick resigned from her post of Metropolitan Police Commissioner.  She stepped down after London Mayor Sadiq Khan stated he had lost confidence in her leadership.

Following a string of incidents involving the Met, including officers taking selfies at crime scenes with murdered victims and forwarding them to friends, evidence of officers at Charing Cross police station sending racist, sexist and homophobic messages to one another, and of course the arrest and conviction of Met Officer Wayne Couzens for the rape and murder of Sarah Everard, Dame Cressida’s position became untenable.  It is reported Mayor Khan was in the process of commencing the statutory removal process when Dame Cressida resigned.  So effectively Dame Cressida jumped in the process of being pushed.
