Whether you are religious or not, the usual perception of Christians is that they seek to follow the example of Christ; that their ethos is being good to their neighbour, helping others, being their brother’s keeper, giving to charity, and basic concern for those in need.  How many of us would choose to be a member of a church that kidnaps, abuses, and kills children?

The largest church in the world, with a global membership of around 1.329 billion, is the Catholic Church, whose leader, Pope Francis appears to be a humanitarian and sincere altruist.  He regularly lectures the world on how to save the planet from global warming, and pollution, how to halt consumerism and look after those living in poverty, wiping out evil, and doing good  Yet
