Is AI a good thing or a bad thing?

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence is now a hot topic for there is a race going on between nations to achieve AI supremacy.  As President Vladimir Putin said “Whoever leads in AI will rule the world.”

Mankind has always competed for world domination.  In 605BC the Babylonian nation became the ruler of the then-known world.  Only to be overthrown by Medo-Persia in 539BC.  This nation ruled supreme until defeated by Alexander the Great in 331BC.  Greece was deposed by Rome in 168BC and maintained world supremacy until it suffered a gradual demise which eventually saw the kingdom divided into the ten kingdoms of Europe in 476AD.  Therefore, countries seeking global dominance is not a new phenomenon and there are no signs it will end.

During the First World War (1914-1918) what began as a relatively small conflict in southeast Europe became a war between European empires. Britain and its Empire’s entry into the war made this a truly global conflict fought on a geographical scale never see
